Illegal Skimming at the Gas Pump

Look before you pump, say police agencies across the U.S. Illegal skimming devices are everywhere, and consumers apparently lose millions of dollars each year by not knowing how to spot the fraud, according to authorities.

Most consumers are unaware of this crime until it happens, they added. Unfortunately, that’s what criminals are hoping for too… a complete lack of awareness.

Man at ATM

Because what may be lurking at that gas pump is what authorities say are skimming devices. These are illegal devices that are hidden on a fuel pump or ATM to steal your credit card information and debit card passwords. At a glance the fuel pump looks normal. But upon closer inspection you’ll see the device.

I love to write about everything automotive and I had to learn more about Skimming Devices, how they work, and why so many of us are unaware they even exist. With a quick search I found the perfect video that explains it all.

Be aware these skimming devices are everywhere in the U.S. and many are not discovered until it’s too late. To avoid having your identify compromised and your credit card or ATM card data stolen take a moment and watch how you can do something to protect yourself.
