About

You’ve landed on my website for any number of reasons. Thank you for being here, and perhaps sharing your visit with others.

For 35 years, I have lived in the world of publishing, first in print on the editorial side of daily newspapers. Then with enthusiast magazines, until finally seeing the inner-workings of digital media.

In all, I have enjoyed every single interview I’ve conducted and every story that came out of those personal encounters. By now it reaches into the thousands.

Today I focus my attention on these niches: Dogs, Cars, and the Great Outdoors. My writing, photography and video work reflects that speciality. My clients are generally a part of those vertical industries, but not always.

I see myself as a highly experienced content provider of journalistic-quality multimedia. I produce content because of my underlying love of journalism—in all mediums.

I don’t look at what I do as creating “art.” It’s not. It is consumable fodder created to entertain, educate and inform.

If you exit feeling better about your understanding of Dogs, Cars, and the Great Outdoors then I’ve done my job.

Which leads me to the real reasons for starting a Blog.

Again, it hearkens back to when I fell for journalism. I simply enjoy storytelling. When infused on a Website I believe Blogs are a beacon to invite readers to stop by and take a look around. No pressure. Hang out. Writers have to write, and so why not Blog, that’s what I thought.

Want to learn more about Blogs? Read this story by music journalist Simon Reynolds.

Since I was a teenager I had a deep curiosity about photography, and that continued into higher education, where I studied photojournalism. The idea that I could tell a story using a camera had always intrigued me. Then along came the digital revolution in the mid 2000s, and video and post-production made its way into my life.

I was fortunate enough to produce two cable television shows, and suddenly I became what is referred to as a multimedia journalist; someone who creates stories and other content using all mediums of media.

The Second-Act

Google can be your friend if you learn how to feed the machine.

The Team

You can’t find a more loyal team than Labradors. Dogs have been the inspiration for many of my stories in national publications. They are great listeners and I love them. Yes, I work directly with people too.

I specialize in Animal, Automotive, Outdoor and niche-specific content.

The Studio

This ‘86 Vanagon Westfalia puts a spin on working from home. Writing about the outdoors means living in it. It’s been the fodder for many Blog posts!

The Vanagon unfolds like a Swiss Army knife— becoming the cook’s galley, creative studio, and Wi-Fi hotspot. Thirty-thousand miles were logged these past years, chasing down stories for clients in the Great Outdoors.

The Rates

Dream big, but start small and you’ll be happy.

The first hour for consultation is free for new clients. There is no one-size-fits-all rate for content. It’s dependent on the type of medium required. Let’s talk about it. I work with all budgets big and small. Learn more in the FAQ section.
